Plastic Recycling

Plastic recycling has been a hot topic that was repeatedly raised at the early 'Wider Group' meetings that were held. It is something that we have therefore decided to address straight away.

We have set up a scheme at St John's school where people can bring plastic bottles etc. to the school each Friday morning for a parent to collect in one car and take to the recycling facility at Portishead. This has encouraged people to recylce their plastic who would not have ordinarily done so, and has meant less car journeys to the tip for those who were doing so already. A similar scheme is being set up at Christchurch Church and we are looking for people to set up similar schemes around Clevedon.

We have also been looking at getting plastic recyling banks set up in Clevedon itself. Things are looking quite positive but we will continue to lobby North Somerset Council to ensure something happens soon.
